Description
American art collector Peggy Guggenheim was known for her impressive collections of surrealist, cubist, and futuristic artwork.
She spent five years living in a cottage in Petersfield, Hampshire, between 1934-1939. Before she left Europe for New York in 1941, Guggenheim was part of a movement funding the escape of European Jewish artists to neutral territories.

She was the daughter of Benjamin Guggenheim, one of the passengers on the HMS Titanic. Benjamin sadly did not survive the event.
