Description
-
Charles Dickens, the famed novelist, was born in a terraced house in 1812, in Portsmouth.
-
This house was later converted into the ‘Charles Dickens’ Birthplace Museum’. There are three furnished rooms in the museum, including the bedroom that Dickens was born in. The museum also features an exhibition on Dickens and Portsmouth, and holds several personal items to the author such as his inkwell and snuff box.
See the page 'Charles Dickens' for more information about Dickens and Judaism.
