Description
In 1848, The Hampshire Telegraph reported that the ‘Jews Society’ had held a meeting in the Abbey Chapel in Romsey.
Attendance from the local Jewish community was described as “very numerous,” and the event attracted visitors from London, including the society’s secretary, Mr Youge, and a German Jew, Dr Huilhoff. A collection was also taken after the service.
