Description

To preview its summer performance of "Chaplin the Musical," the locally owned and managed Brilliantly Different Productions used a little bit of mimicry.
Christopher Curtis, a newbie to Broadway, and three-time Tony Award winner Thomas Meehan wrote the play, which was just acquired by artistic director J. Farley Norman and Brilliantly Different.
The play, which had its Broadway debut in 2012, follows Charlie Chaplin's ascent and decline as a legendary filmmaker.
The regional performance will be one of the first to be staged outside of New York in August.

Scholarly Significance
-
The extravagant "Anything Goes" was staged last summer for three performances at Henderson Fine Arts Center.
They recruited their own sponsors in addition to contributing to the show's funding through the music extravaganza "Broadway on Elm," which also featured an educational outreach programme at nearby elementary schools.
